Projection Mapping/ Mairie de quartier de Fives, Lille/ 2:00/ 2019
The Recurrent Hand is a projection mapping work created for the facade of the Mairie de Quartier de Fives in Lille. A large, recurring hand moves across the building like a cursor on a computer screen, clicking on windows and other architectural elements and triggering unexpected events.
In one scene, a group of chairs jumps out of the windows and takes over the facade as a stage. The playful, comic imagery transforms the architecture into an animated space where ordinary objects take on a life of their own.
The chairs come together, suggesting collective strength and agency. At the same time, the deliberately humorous and cartoon-like animation keeps the imagery open and playful.
The Recurrent Hand was presented in September 2019 at the Mairie de Quartier de Fives in Lille, following an invitation by Rencontres Audiovisuelles.
