The play, actually about the sale of land and the expulsion of the inhabitants, builts a link to the squatting culture of the 80s in Düsseldorf, to life visions and the urban politics today. In this piece the characters turn to squatters. The performance is located as a site-specific work in the famous Kiefernstraße (Kiefernstreet) in Düsseldorf-Flingern.The street which once was partly squatted, is the center of gentrification in Düsseldorf today.
The voices heard are a mix between own recordings and material from archives. The archive voices are from squatters, politicians, city planners recorded between 1987 – 2008.
The children’s voices are taken from interviews hold in 2018 during the process of the project. This kids are inhabitants of the houses on the Kiefernstreet.
The animated images are taken or inspired from the many graffities you can find there.
