Nominated for the Video Mapping Awards-Programme 2019/ European Mapping Center (Lille/F)
DER KIRSCHGARTEN is part of a 50-minute cooperative play, which uses Chekhov’s „Cherry Orchard“ as a basis. In this version, the play ties in with the squatters‘ movement of the 80s in Du?sseldorf. The video mapping deals with the history of the Kiefernstraße, a street which was squatted in the 80s is now affected by gentrification. The work picks up archive material abou the street and links them with interviews taken on the street in 2018. Among others, young residents of Kiefernstraße were interviewed. The animations refer to the murals of the Kiefernstraße and bring the characters from it to life.
